Biography
Leandro Kalén born on March 5, 1985 in Buenos Aires, the son of bassist, composer and teacher Máximo Rodríguez. He studied percussion (Horacio López), piano (Abel Rogantini, Lucas Nikotian, Gustavo Liamgot), singing (Roberto Catarineu), song (Rosario Bléfari), electric bass (EMPA), production of shows, independent production of discs, communication and management, recording and mixing (Escuela Sónica), arrangements and orchestration (Pollo Raffo), artistic production, Contemporary Music, etc; while he attended clinics outstanding musicians as Osvaldo & Francisco Fattoruso, Naná Vasconcelos, Rufus Reid, César Camargo Mariano, Adriana de los Santos, Diego Vainer, Gabo Ferro, Carlos Shaw, Fito Páez, Will Jones, Sabu Toyozumi, Robby Ameen, Anki Toner,, among others.
Since 2000, when his musical evolution begins, he has participated as a singer, keyboardist, bassist, guitarist, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist projects of various genres. He accompanied and arranged for various singers. It was part of the group Javier Calequi, Nicolás Ojeda, Demian Naón, Poncharelo, Oscar Kreimer, Rubén Ferrero, Warhol Oliveira, Diego Neder, Jorge Segnini… and participated in groups like Prema, Quelompa, Rafunk, Chochán, Fried Chicken, La Nieta de Godar, Orquesta Trompa de Elefante, Mammalua, Bogado y los Venticalores, Madrugada Candombe, A100to, among many others. He also appeared as a guest on shows Eduardo Tami, Leandro Savelón, Fernández Pereyra, La Secuela, Pilazo, Hija, Yendo, Agustín Cristiani, Charlie Martínez, Trío Lucas, Estefanía Revas, Leo Pagano, Ignacio Arigós, Seintempu Música Étnica, among others.
Awarded in the 2008 and 2009 “Corear”, music remix contest for video games, organized by ADVA. He participated in the Global Game Jam 2010. He composed original music for video games, films and plays.
In the field of world music, he participated in the Historic Artistic Parade organized by Fuerza Bruta for the Bicentennial Argentino (2010), representing indigenous peoples. With musical direction by Gaby Kerpel and nearly 2,000 participating artists, the show was seen by over 2 million people in Buenos Aires. He also participated in Tierra de Razas, Ruben Ferrero etnofolklórica work (functions in Contrafestejo in Mataderos and Manufactura Papelera).
He worked as a musician in works of musical theater: La Opera Mediocre (2010, Rubén Ferrero-Diego Arbit),La Vida de Billie Holiday (2010, Rubén Ferrero) and Las Patricias (2010, Monferato/Cristiani), all functions in the Manufactura Papelera. In 2011 takes the direction and coordination of the Pink Panther cycle, where a 6-membered orchestra played music and live set in original chapters of the character created by Blake Edwards, with original music by Henry Mancini. His current group consists of Tomas Martini (guitars and vocals), Guido Rodríguez (keyboards) and Enzo Cuenca (drums); with its repertoire (Concreto, Kalendoscopio, Rap, Incierto Orkestra) it was presented in different editions of the FLIA (Book Fair Independent and Autogestiva in Buenos Aires), opening the Conexa Fest 2010 under the Festival Internacional de Diseño in the ZOO de Poetas, Free Jazz Festival 2010 y 2011, 1er Festival Nacional de Cultura Afro Argentina (CC Estación Provincial, La Plata), en la Alianza Francesa (Maratón de la Creación 2011), a tribute to Nestor Kirchner at the Faculty of Philosophy UBA, Sanata Bar, etc.
