Hector Starc and Rodolfo Garcia presented together even before the dissolution of Aquelarre, the band in which militated. During the extended stay in Spain (1975-77), Starc mailed the composing instrumentals to Machi will add to the bass parts. The official presentation of Tantor was in December 1978 and recorded the following year, with Leo Sujatovich and Lito Vitale as guest musicians. “(The record) had no impact because the instrumental music never hit here”, acknowledges Starc (E. Avalos book, p. 120).

The two meetings of Almendra (and subsequent national tours) had occupied momentarily Garcia, so their growth was slowed Tantor popularity. In 1981 they were reduced to a duo, after which Babú Cervino (keyboards) and Marcelo Torres (bass) joined. With this formation they played BARock '82 and recorded the second album. The presentation at the Festival de La Falda '83 was the last of the group.
