Biography
Gérson Werlang is a guitarist, composer, poet and writer. His first CD, Memórias do Tempo (2008), contains his main influences in the ten compositions that his disc counts; classical guitar, Progressive Rock, Jazz, Brazilian Popular Music, Erudite and Experimental Music. He has two CDs with the band Poços & Nuvens, where he also works with those same influences.
It seeks to relate music and literature, is a Doctor in Letters from the Federal University of Santa Maria, with a search on the music and work of the writer Erico Veríssimo.
He has a book of poems, "Outros Outonos" (1997) and several published essays and chronicles. Gérson and Bacharel in Music from the Federal University of Santa María and Master of Music - Guitar Performance from the University of Miami.
Professor of classical guitar and History of Music at the University of Passo Fundo - RS, was the creator of the Bachelor's Degree in Guitar at the University of Passo Fundo (1998) and also a pioneer in the introduction of disciplines of History of Jazz and History of Rock (on the name of History of Contemporary Popular Music) of this same university.
He also performed at concerts and shows in the United States, Mexico, Uruguay and in various Brazilian cities.
2008 saw him start a solo career, when he issued his first solo album, Memórias do Tempo (Memories Of Time), jointly released by Rock Symphony in Brazil and Musea Records in France. Now he is back with his second solo album, Sistema Solar (Solar System).
The album was released in CD first in 2015 and 2017 sees the album getting released in LP and digital formats. Gérson plays electric and acoustic guitars, mandolin and melodica and is the composer of all themes, where the planets serve as motives to different themes, as ecology [Netuno], cosmic love [Os Anéis de Saturno], prejudice [Você Ainda Vai Precisar de Urano], and other matters.
