Biography
After the end of the band Mahtrak, the multi-instrumentalist and composer, Paulo Viana began to make covers of King Crimson together with Gabriel Costa (Violeta de Outono) and Vlad Rocha. This was not enough for his creativity and the logo came from new material, which he decided to record, playing all the instruments, with the exception of the drums, which he created at the expense of Vlad Rocha. In a project entitled Perspective Vortex, Paulo explores various styles, progressive rock, Canterbury, electronic music, jazz, RIO among other of his influences. Out of Time opens the album with Paulo exploring many keyboards and synthesizers, in a mix of styles that goes from the classic progressive two years of the 1970s, exploring changes in tempo, very complex, that takes us back to Canterbury bands like Rascal Reporters, who bet on diversity and complex use and, at times, atonal two keyboards. Out Of Place is based on a song with a beautiful melody, two most sunny moments of the album that serves as an introduction to Out Of Nowhere, with an electronic start that has evolved for a progressive line in space rock with only synthesizers, guitar and sax, for the enjoyment of Ozric Tentacles and Pink Floyd, with a slightly calmer sound. Or a real guitar solo by Fred Berlowitz. Out Of Sight is a fairly intimate composition for piano, English horn and soprano sax, where the English horn brings us the presence of Michel Berckmans (Univers Zéro, Julverne, von Zamla) and the duet with soprano sax features something by Coltrane. For me there are two most beautiful moments on the album! Truly sensational. Out Of Space is a suite with seven parts, quality progressive rock with touches of Canterbury and jazz rock. The only thing you need to do is vocais. The instrumental part brings us the classical influence of progressive rock from the 1970s, such as VDGG, Soft Machine, Vangelis, Henry Cow or Yes.
