Biography

In 1975, following the reformulation of the duo of the Pérez brothers, Miguel and Eugenio, which had formally separated the previous year, and with the idea of creating a group experience, their younger brothers Diego on percussion and Pablo on bass joined, along with Eugenio on charango guitar and vocals and Miguel on guitar, flute and vocals. In February, they formed the band Aucán, a word of Mapuche origin, with the idea of fusing Folklore with Rock, produced with lyrics with committed social themes. They took a few selected songs from their previous band and began composing new material to create their new repertoire, with which they began performing in the province of Buenos Aires, debuting in June in Bahía Blanca, playing in Mendoza in June and then in the Capital at the end of August at the Olimpia Theater in a show titled "Songs from Here and Now" before a small audience, performing songs such as "Saludo" and "Canción del Descanso" highlighted by the use of cello, and others more focused on folklore such as "Indio y Conquistador" or "Nublado". On Saturday, September 6, they performed at the San Martín Theater, then toured the interior playing in Bahía Blanca, Mendoza, Córdoba, Santa Fe, Paraná and other cities in the province of Buenos Aires, on Friday, December 5, they performed with Rodolfo Haerle and Mirta Defilpo at the Roma Theater in Avellaneda.

In 1976, they played in Mendoza, Córdoba, and the province of Buenos Aires, in schools, and in Mar del Plata. Towards the end of the year, they entered Tagliani Studios independently and recorded a single with the songs "Canto al Si" and "Para Alguien que no Está" with the intention of releasing it independently.

They then embarked on a coastal tour, starting in Miramar and continuing through Necochea, Mar del Plata, and Villa Gesell. Upon returning to the capital, they signed a contract to record their debut LP. They participated in a traveling tour sponsored by Cindor chocolate milk, appearing in Greater Buenos Aires on July 8, 1977, alongside León Gieco. Then, in July, another similar tour was organized at the University of Belgrano, where they performed alongside Candelas, the singer Celeste, Magoo, Horizonte, María José Demare, Madre Ona, and Transfiguración. They performed at the San Martín Theater alongside Jaime Torres to a large audience. While between June and August they entered Sound Center recording studios to record 10 songs that, with the art of Miguel Pérez, would become the self-titled debut LP released by the Diorama label before the end of the year and presented it on December 7 at the Astral Theater with a great turnout and good press reviews, counting on León Gieco and Gabriela as guests, deepening their mix of rock with folklore.

In early 1978, they toured the Atlantic coast, playing in Villa Gesell, Mar del Plata, Necochea, and Miramar. In August, they performed at the Teatro del Centro, where, in addition to the LP, they presented new songs such as "Misterio Azul," which received positive press reviews.

In 1979, musical differences arose between Miguel and the rest of his brothers. Miguel wanted to deepen the folkloric vein and the others wanted to emphasize a rock sound. As a result, Miguel left the group and became a soloist under the pseudonym Yuelze. Shortly after, guitarist Guillermo Fracchetti joined him, and they began exploring more sophisticated rock styles, contributing their power as a rock guitarist. They then signed a contract with the Sazam label and entered the studio between October and December to record on 8 channels with the assistance of León Gieco as music producer and with important guests, the seven songs that would make up their second LP entitled "Brotes del Alba", which with a beautiful naive cover art would be released the following year, with a sound more inclined towards Symphonic Progressive Rock and careful arrangements with great timbral richness, without losing its Folk influences.

In January 1980, they performed at the Parquerama 80 open-air festival at La Rural with their new lineup, achieving a good following, sharing the show with Raíces and Cutaia. After playing regularly throughout Greater Buenos Aires throughout the year, in September they played at the Morón University Auditorium and then at a festival at the Cooperativa el Hogar Obrero gymnasium alongside Fantasía and Dorados Días de Rock and Roll. The official album launch would take place in December at the Blanca Podestá Theater with guest musicians.

In 1981, they toured the Atlantic coast throughout the summer and then along the coast, performing in Paraná and Rosario, while preparing material for a third album, with an even more rock-oriented sound, featuring songs such as " Después de la Lluvia (After the Rain)," "Terapia Intensiva (Intensive Therapy)," and "Vieja Estación (Old Station)."

The following year, they continued performing across the country and appeared at the fourth edition of the B.A. Rock festival on Saturday, November 13, 1982, at the Obras Sanitarias stadium.

The band finally broke up in 1984 after being unable to record a new album.
