Biography
Band formed by Marcelo Morano and Willy Campins at the end of 1976. After several months of preparations and rehearsals in a basement they shared with Gustavo Santaolalla's group "Soluna", they debuted at the Teatro Del Carmen in April of the following year.
After remaining active throughout that year, its members entered in mid-1978 to record their first (and only) album, which was released a few months later and received excellent reviews for its well-interpreted progressive rock. The versatility of the musicians allowed them to infuse symphonic airs in the final result, a touch that gives sophistication to their style. These incursions are mostly provided by the keyboard inputs and their elegant textures, and the measured and intelligent use of the saxophone and flute in most of the main melodic lines. The great advantage of this album is the creation of very emotional atmospheres through pleasant melodic lines and tasteful arrangements, with some truly captivating themes of evident beauty.
At the same time as the release of this material, Osvaldo Boch joined Rayuela to replace Berinstein and the former Soluna member Oski Amante on percussion. With this formation they continued to perform without much popular echo until they split up in mid-1979.
"Rayuela's debut album shows them as a group based on songs, expressed through simple but well-structured arrangements, with a jazzy feel. One of the identifying elements of the group is the neatness and balance, which leads them to form a compact and convincing sound. Without being virtuosos, they consolidated a sound image that is the visible beginning of a greater evolution. Goldstein's vocal contribution is correct, he has a good vibrato, but he lacks a more diverse modulation. A weak point is the literary aspect, of little importance. In short, a good start for the future construction of a sound of their own."
