Biography
Asceta is a modern music ensemble, created in Santiago, Chile, in 2020 by the musician and composer Rodrigo Maccioni, who is also a member of the progressive band Abrete Gandul.
The instrumental ensemble is made up of an octet of musicians who have trained and performed in classical and popular music.
Asceta's musical goals are conceived as a set of modern music, which fuses different currents of classical and avant-garde music with contemporary trends in popular, such as progressive rock, incidental music, jazz and even tango.
The musical aesthetic can be classified as chamber-rock or RIO, where the common instruments of a rock band do not predominate, but rather, a more acoustic and chamber sound stands out. The result is music with a dramatic character, very eclectic and diverse, with dark and hypnotic atmospheres, even landscapes of simplicity and beauty.
In December 2021, the ensemble signs for the Mexican record label Azafran Media Records in association with the French label Musea Records. Asceta's self-titled debut album is released on January 16, 2022, which has had a notable reception in international media.
His second work dates back to 2023 titled "Erebus, la Suite de las Sombras", again together with the Azafrán Media Records label in charge of its edition. A concept album about the ups and downs of Erebus, an enigmatic sorcerer who enters the dreams of the Ascetic, stealing fragments of dream music that attempts to transform suffering in harmony with his alchemy.
