Biography
Kai d 'Raiz is a nonet born in March 2014 from the depths of Urban Music, composed of active musicians from the local Jazz scene, with the aim of fusing different aesthetic expressions that are part of the baggage of each of its members. This ensemble is crossed by Academic / Contemporary Music, Folklore and Jazz and each of these musical genres seeks to subtract its stage to turn it into a genuine artistic expression
The music they play does not belong to a specific genre. It is the result of a combination of influences that make up our roots.
Kay in the Quechua language means: to be, to be, to have and this music has to do with that; Being of Root
And not because we refer to our land root, but to what we decided to be in it. This group is understood as a space where different roots converge, which contain different experiences, tastes, passions and everything that makes up to be immersed in a globalized culture.
The nonet released his first album “Kai d’ Raíz” in 2015. It has more than a dozen presentations in Capital Federal and Province of Buenos Aires. One of the highlights is the concert that gave birth to the "Cruces" series at Café Vinilo with Alan Plachta.
Currently, he is presenting "Limbo", his second album recorded in Doctor F by Francisco Stuart. This record represents an intense search of the group that is forging a more rock aesthetic. With the difficult challenge of balancing the acoustic and electric instruments, Kai d’ Raíz begins to define its own sonority. "Limbo" represents a transition, a bet to experiment in the search of new sounds and in the development of new rhythms that mix our urban music with Hip Hop and Rock.
The album was officially presented at Sala Verdi in Montevideo, Uruguay, and on the main stage of the 10th edition of the International Jazz Festival "Jazz a la Calle" (Mercedes).
