Born in Viña del Mar at the beginning of the seventies, this group was one of the first to mix Latin-American autochthonous music with electronic instruments such as electric guitars, synthesizers, bass and drums. Having lived in Paris, France since 1977, "Los Jaivas" have recorded countless hits from which it is important to point out the first called "Todos juntos" that in 1996 was the official hymn Iberian American Meeting of Presidents which was held in Santiago de Chile. The song is an example of the union of generations and spirits that "Los Jaivas" have achieved by means of their music full of and humanitarian feelings. In their discography stands out "Alturas de Machu Pichu", inspired by the same text that wrote the Nobel Prize Winner, Pablo Neruda. Nowadays the brothers Eduardo and Claudio Parra, Mario Mutis, Gato Alquinta and Juanita Parra who replaced her late father, Gabriel Parra, in drums form the band. With this line up the group has almost the same line up of the first years having a good feed back from their public who likes their live performances 1997 was a very important year in their career musical because after many years of silence and after releasing "Hijos de la tierra" in 1995, they could regain their intense relations not only with their public but also with other Chilean musicians who recorded with them "Los Jaivas" the album "Trilogía - El reencuentro" which compiles in only one record the best songs of this band, played by old friends and new generations as well. "Los Jaivas" are an example of artistic consequence and creative perseverance, which makes them one of the most important bands and a clear exponent of Latin-American folklore and rock.
