From the Melody Maker, The Wire, Spin, and Rolling Stone columns, as well as in all the books that he published, Simon Reynolds set himself to deconstruct Pop Music's discourse by submitting it to an ideological dissection, which had nevertheless not impeded him from abandoning his mundane pleasures. The language suspension of Noise, the oceanic-mystic regressions of Acid Rock, the preponderance of the timbre/chromatism/texture triad over and above the melody and the message in Post-Rock and Electronic Music, represent a Psychedelic continuum which traverses the history of Pop Music.

Luis Alberto Spinetta was much more than a Rock musician. It is very difficult to find negative commentaries or criticisms in reference to him as a person or his work, and he always obtained an enormous respect from the public, the press and his artistic peers, as if he were a special, almost sacred being. For many, he set some very high standards, in terms of the impeccably and professionally ethical ways in which he conducted himself as regards to all aspects of his personal life. This book on one hand maintains that Spinetta has been transformed into a mythical character by his very own audience. On the other hand, that part of the secret of his unique poetry and what it generates to us all lies in the construction -whether intentional or not- of a particular mythology that addresses existential questions and attempts to appease the real anguish generated by the separation between man and the cosmos.

The threesome formed by Daniel "Pipi" Piazzolla (drums), Damián Fogiel (saxophones) and Lucio Balduini (electric guitar) introduces us to their second album of Jazz Fusion. The ensuing sound on this record has been the result of experimenting with metrics and harmonics, as well as naturally and fluently keeping the melodic side of their repertoire constantly afloat.

This quartet is led by two girls who command the vocal and guitar department. Each composition on this disc surfs in and out of Psychedelic Rock, Stoner Rock, Space Rock, and Progressive Rock atmospheres. With tremendous valve weight, the foursome offers great Instrumental forcefulness and presence, as well as never abandoning the knack they have for melody, as displayed in all their songs.

Luis Alberto Spinetta's former keyboards player decided to launch his very first solo album in the shape of a 2-CD production. The first disc is more Experimental, consisting mainly of keyboards and synthesizers, somewhat similar in style to "Mono" Fontana's sonic produce. The second disc presents piano compositions, along the lines of Mingui Ingaramo's works. We could describe Claudio's recordings as eclectic, genre-less, parameter-less, without any standard at all; as if they were attached to the original soundtrack of an imaginary film.

Miguel Grinberg, music critic and poet, as well as a specialist in generational themes and counter-cultural movements, was able to nail down in the pages of Buenos Aires daily newspaper "La Opinión" a craftsmanship of untamed expression, with particular emphasis on the literary proposals of that specific period's Argentine Rock movement. Among many other issues, Seru Giran's debut, Almendra's reunion, the numerous Rock Festivals of those times, MIA's activities, Aquelarre's experiences, Luis Alberto Spinetta and León Gieco's adventures while abroad, etc, are magnificently covered in accurate detail-like manner.

This is the fourth concept album recorded effort by Jacinto M. Corral, and it finds him in all his artistic splendour: the musician exhibits his vast academic knowledge, both from a compositional standpoint, as well as the impeccable execution of diverse musical instruments, in which acoustic sounds prevail. Jacinto's music combines Epic Symphonic Rock with Classical Music, Folk Music, and Medieval Music, as he builds multiple layers of awesome and richly-textured sonic landscapes and instrumentation, besides his own lead singing and the backing vocals.

This was the first album consisting of original material that the mythical threesome recorded after a lengthy ten-year sabbatical, which began in 1978 and ended in 1988. We can easily observe the maturing process that the band had enjoyed during all this period of absence, presenting a sound and style totally in tune with the times. Besides the original trio line-up, the group incorporated keyboards player Chiche Graciano for these recordings.

This threesome originally hails from the province of Tucumán (northern region of Argentina) and has just released their second album, a concept piece divided into three different trilogies. Self-defined as "Abstract Rock", they privilege cerebral and dreamily-minded dark climaxes, combining Atmospheric Progressive Rock together with touches of Fusion and outbreaks of Post Metal / Grunge. The resulting sound is that of a transition between Porcupine Tree, Tool and Luis Alberto Spinetta. This very special edition includes a mini-book.

This represents a reflexive approach to the history and present of Jazz in Argentina, through interviews held with musicians of different walks of life, generations and styles. The book tackles discussions that link popular music with processes of social significance, miscegenation and identity, without getting round to the recent debates held concerning local "Afro" culture and the spot it occupies in the so-called Black Atlantic.
