They were first known as Los Wilds Cats back in 1963, in the image and likeness of local Argentine outfit Los Teen Tops. In 1965, with Litto Nebbia as their lead singer, they were re-baptized as Los Gatos Salvajes. With a more Beatlesque type-of-sound, they were hired by the television programme "Escala Musical" and recorded a long play featuring a collection of tracks penned by Nebbia himself. Finally, in 1967, Ciro Fogliatta and Litto, together with Alfredo Toht, Oscar Moro, and Kay Galiffi, reassembled the band and called themselves Los Gatos. This formation recorded the mythical "La Balsa" (by Litto Nebbia and Tanguito) and "Ayer nomás" (by Moris and Pipo Lernoud), a 45 RPM disc that became the founding iconic pillar of the Rock movement in Argentina. After recording 3 albums right up until their first separation, and with the addition of Pappo in 1969, they became the most perfect transition between sixties' Beat and early seventies' Rock.

“Lo único comparable a escuchar la música de Spinetta es hablar sobre Spinetta”.
The idea that seems to run through each page of Luisito Volume 2 is that the only thing comparable to listening to Spinetta is talking about him. Like a Spinettean alchemist, Kasparian does what’s needed to recover scattered fragments -seemingly connected by an invisible thread- of Luis Alberto Spinetta’s life & works, via statements by a wide range of beings who sometime and somewhere, crossed paths with Luis: in person, by phone, Zoom, or Whatsapp. Who cares?! Only 1 thing matters: talking about Spinetta.

Libro
Argentine - Book in Spanish - Format 17 x 11 cm. In printing paper with 138 black & white pages / coloured cover.
It happened during the mid-sixties in the City of Buenos Aires' district of Barrio Norte, inside a basement locale known as "La Cueva de Pasarotus" (later to be known simply as "La Cueva", where several young people who had been born in the 1940's started to meet and converge, as they were commonly attracted by Jazz. They soon attempted to gradually change the musical trends of the joint towards Beat and Rock. Within this group of pioneers were Moris, Pajarito Zaguri, Sandro, Billy Bond, Pipo Lernoud, Tanguito, Litto Nebbia, and Javier Martínez, who gave birth to the idea of composing Rock and Blues songs sung in Spanish, to reflect the reality of what they were living through in their everyday lives, in a country ruled by a military regime. After participating in a musical experience with Moris in Villa Gesell and being part of La Banda de Gastón, in 1967, drummer and singer Javier Martinez met Claudio Gabis, the guitarist of Bubblin Awe, and Alejandro Medina, bass player with Los Seasons, with whom he formed Manal, the founding Rock band in Argentina.

Highly admirable debut album by this Progressive/Symphonic Rock sextet, the songs of which are entirely sung in Spanish. These tracks present a melodic line on the keyboards, acoustic guitars and violin, with a certain resemblance to Italian Prog Rock’s classic style, as well as occasional strokes of Neo Symphonic.

This was the sole album recorded by this band, which came together in 1979, and was fronted by Gustavo Montesano (formerly with Crucis) and Alejandro De Michele (formerly with Pastoral.) The group attempted to innovate their already well-seasoned Symphonic Rock and Progressive Folk origins, with the aesthetics of the New Wave genre that had just landed in Argentina.

This quartet is led by two girls who command the vocal and guitar department. Each composition on this disc surfs in and out of Psychedelic Rock, Stoner Rock, Space Rock, and Progressive Rock atmospheres. With tremendous valve weight, the foursome offers great Instrumental forcefulness and presence, as well as never abandoning the knack they have for melody, as displayed in all their songs.

Argentine - Book in Spanish - Format 23 x 16 cm. In printing paper with 352 black & white pages / coloured cover.
Passionate and many times controversial, Litto Nebbia tells everything. It is now fifty years since "La balsa", and the Argentine Rock pioneer, it must be said, was the very first to have no prejudice whatsoever with any musical genre, by merging Rock with Jazz, Brazilian Popular Music, Folklore, Bolero, and encouraging uncharted, never-before-explored musical territories. As unclassifiable as its author, "Mi banda sonora" threads, just like a soundtrack should, varying scenes from his own life history, scenes from his abundant songs and albums, his friends, his favourite movies and composers, his endless tours, and his own personal opinions. And together with all of these, thousands of memoirs, dreams and passions turn this book into a labour of love that is well-projected and directed into the future.

This terrific release comes in the shape of a double CD, and it includes several unreleased gems recorded in the studio, as well as some done live in concert. The set also features certain tracks which until now, hadn't seen the light of day on CD. Not only this: included is the only known filmed footage to exist of the members of such a legendary bunch. This 'rescue' took many years of painstacking labours, and the celluloid material found from the different phases of the ensemble, reflects the varied musical options offered by this great independent musical association, during its various incarnations. Released in a special double digi-pack.

This musician was born in the city of Rosario (province of Santa Fé, Argentina). The former leader of the band Síntesis released his first solo album back in the year 1990 (via the Melopea label) and has now decided to re-launch it on CD through the Blue Art label. Under Fusion Jazz aesthetics and infused with Progressive brush-strokes, the music played by the quartet performing on this album features a predominance of wind instruments which carry forth the melodies and improvisations.

Miguel, I do not know why I started thinking about him; could be that I did not have time to understand everything at the time; Miguel, a really fertile poet; he arrived with two songs he wrote all over again in order to live again, you left glory behind and gifted us with history through your gypsy compass; you took me by the hand to the small glory of playing with THE abuelo. Miguel, will we meet again? it's hard to know... If you had something to say you said it twice, and Miguel had a good fist, and he knew who to floor, who to gift, who to forget and live, and you taught us all a little sense of the Palermo Dancer's friendship, Miguel. Miguel Cantilo occupies a privileged place among all the pioneers of Rock sung in Spanish. His emblematic compositions turned Miguel into one of the most important Argentine Rock songwriters. As it introduces the readers to previously unpublished texts showing the genesis of Cantilo's works, his big Pedro y Pablo success, the protagonist of Catalina Bahía, as well as exclusive autobiographical notes, this book is much more than a rigorous study of his lucid and exquisite oeuvre.

After duet Pedro & Pablo's first split, Miguel Cantilo (Pedro) settled in a southern Argentine little village at the foot of the Andes range known as El Bolson, in order to live within a Hippie community. At the end of 1972, he wrote several Psych/Folk songs together with Kubero Diaz(from La Cofradia De La Flor Solar fame) which were inevitably inspired by their gorgeous, rural surroundings. One year later, the tunes were recorded together with a list of key celebrity guests.

This is generally refered to as the third album of Pedro & Pablo (Cantilo - Durietz), whom together with members of La Cofradia de la Flor Solar, famed violin player Jorge Pinchevsky, and the contribution of Charly Garcia, recorded this Psyche-Folk effort back in 1974. It is also considered to be almost a continuation of Miguel Cantilo's Grupo Sur spinoff.

Another Uruguayan act trilogy: Miguel y el comité was a band which mixed Rock with Candombe and whose lyrics reflected elevated political overtones & observations. Limonada did likewise, amidst nice & poppy melodies. Leo Antúnez was one of the very few soloists performing Hard Rock in Uruguay back in those days; however, what's on the menu here are 2 melodic songs featuring spoken lyrics.

This legendary Argentine Folk Rock duet, consisting of brothers Miguel and Eugenio Pérez, recorded their sole album back in 1972/3, with the precious collaboration of Litto Nebbia, as well as other important and famed guest musicians. The siblings had previously participated in the mythological, Buenos Aires "Acusticazo" Festival in 1972, and became inevitably linked to this movement. A couple of years later, in 1975, they disbanded and formed the band Aucán, together with their younger brothers.

This was the last musical adventure undertaken by the former member of Engranaje, Pescado Rabioso, and Sacramento, Osvaldo “Bocón” Frascino. They performed live in concert at the Teatro Verdi, in the City of Buenos Aires, on August 16, 2019, where they performed part of “Bocón’s historical repertoire, as well as some songs written by ‘Pappo’ Napolitano.
