Description

  • León Gieco - En el país de la libertad - (2019)

“En el país de la libertad” (“In the country of freedom”) covers the first 16 years of León Gieco in Buenos Aires, from his arrival from Cañada Rosquín until the edition of "Desde Ushuaia a La Quiaca" comprising all the albums he released for the Music Hall company in this period. With folk and rock influences since its inception, he composed songs highlighting the essential values ??of life, freedom as a flag and struggle and vindication of the people inspired by people and characters characteristic of the interior of the country.

During these years that Argentina went through military coups, de facto governments, wars and repression and a short and chaotic democratic period Leon was persecuted for his letters that went against the indoctrination that he wanted to impose for which he had to exile himself from the country in several opportunities without lowering the arms or negotiating the messages of their subjects.

Therefore, although an irony sounds “En el país de la libertad” (“In the country of freedom”) is the title of this book by Leon Gieco in an era of a country that did not have it.
