Biography
Guitarist, composer, arranger, producer and teacher, Sergio Alvarez has integrated different musical projects, all associated with innovation and artistic excellence.
Able to subtly walk from quiet acoustic landscapes to sound assaults associated to Sheets of sound of John Coltrane, from Pop to Metal to Free Jazz to Punk the guitarist participated as leader and composer of the Porco and Panza projects; As an interpreter in the double Jazz quartet, Datrebil; in the Jazz nonet, Sorín Octeto; in the Fusion quartet, La Mujer Barbuda and in the Rock group, Octafonic.
As a soloist he released two albums under the name Electroálvarez: “Volúmen III - Música para contestadores” and “Volúmen II - Música para bailar llorando”.
He worked as a producer and sessionist in more than thirty national and international albums.
He created and directed the Orquesta Ruido Negro, the first electric guitar orchestra in Argentina and one of the few in the world; For this project he won a grant from the Fondo Metropolitano de las Ciencias y de las Artes.
In parallel he has made a long teaching career, training professional musicians for almost three decades.
He is currently in full development of a project that integrates his musical vision with teaching, literature and photography.
In September 2018, released by the label Quark Records, a new solo work: “Un lugar solitario llamado Libertad”
