Biography
Although it seems incredible nowadays, Nexus was born in the mid-seventies in the west zone of the Great Buenos Aires, Argentina, as the dream of a group of young friends who loved the music of ELP, Yes, Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, King Crimson, Genesis and the local star band Crucis.....
Time led them to face an amateur career, showing themselves in rare but everlasting performances.
Little by little, the band developed its action in unforgettable shows, meeting in its way with bands like Trigemino, MIA, FEM, Leonor Marchesi and many others, who were creating, without being aware of it, a different vision in the mistreated mind of the Argentines.
There were many changes, but the band always remained alive, defining its proposal and style in an almost crafty way.
In 1997 the band returned to the stages, this time with a professional approach. Nexus made several performances, even appearing as opening band for foreign acts like Cast (Mexico), IQ (England) and The Flower Kings (Sweden), which won themselves an international prestige absolutely unusual for the Progressive genre in Argentina.
The band was invited to several international festivals of Progressive Music (Rio Art Rock Festival in Brazil, Baja Prog 2000 in Baja California, Nearfest 2000 in USA and Mexprog 2000 in Mexico) where they shared the bill with important bands like Anekdoten, John Wetton Band, After Crying, Le Orme, Il Balletto di Bronzo, Transatlantic, Iluvatar, Happy the Man, Par Lindh Project and others, in wich they definitively became the Latin-American revelation of Symphonic/Progressive Rock.
These events, together with the excellent sales and reviews of their first opus “Detrás del umbral” released by the brazilian label Record Runner, led them to become one of the most promising bands nowadays.
The music of Nexus brings together the essential elements of the 70's symphonic rock, with the freshness and strength of the 90's. Different lyrics and the mixture of musical complexity and feeling that inmediately make them outstanding from the other groups of this genre.
The band recorded their second album, called "Metanoia", at the Panda Studios in Buenos Aires. It was released by Record Runner label by the middle of the year, coinciding with the Nearfest 2001 in Pennsylvania, USA, where the band achieved and important success last year.
The artistic production of the album belongs to the members of the band.
Before its third album, the singer Mariela González moves away from the band, happening to conform a quartet with dual masculine voices, besides the voice of Lito Marcello like invited in its work "Perpetuum karma" recorded in the year 2006,
The following year, in 2007, they publish an experimental work called "Buenos Aires free experience".
Already by that time, his bassist Daniel Ianniruberto had left the group, briefly incorporating Machy Madco in their fifth studio album "Aire" edited by the Fonocal label in 2012.
That same year they released "Magna Fabulis", a CD that compiles all the songs made by the band for different conceptual works that were published in Musea Records / Colossus.
The band joins the bassist Jorge Mariño Martinez and at the beginning of 2017 is jointly edited “En el comienzo del Topos Uranos” through Record Runner / Melopea his seventh album, which came out in CD and vinyl LP format.
