Biography

Haiku was born in May 1993 as a duo consisting of Alejandro Balbuena and Sami Abadi. They debuted that same year in the Teatro Nacional Cervantes and from there they are presented in many places, among them: La Scala de San Telmo, Centro Cultural Recoleta, Tademus, Kif, Oliverio Allways en el Bauen Hotel, Asociación Yoga para Occidente, El Taller, Auditorio Golden Shoping, Finis Terra, Cappero, Café de los músicos, Centro Cultural Pucará. In 1994 they are awarded in the "Music Fusion" category at the Buenos Aires Young Arts Biennial organized by the Federación Universitaria de Buenos Aires.

In 1996 he joined the training percussionist Carlos Fradkin, with whom in 1997 they independently recorded and released the first CD of the group titled “El ojo del ahora” composed entirely of his own compositions. His second CD “Las voces de un río” has the support of Fondo Nacional de las Artes.. They presented this CD in the Festival Internacional IDRS Buenos Aires 2000.

Haiku is currently integrated by: Marcelo Bru in cello Cristian Cocchiararo in oboe and English horn, Carlos Fradkin in percussion Alejandro Balbuena in guitar and composition.
